Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or ‘PhilHealth’ is an organization that maintains the national socialized health insurance program run on behalf of the Philippine government for its citizens to provide affordable health insurance for its citizens. Its origins were from 1969 and has 21 office locations nationwide. It is a government owned and controlled organization which was created from the National Health Insurance Act of 1995 that mandates that it “shall provide health insurance coverage and ensure affordable, acceptable, available and accessible health care services for all citizens of the Philippines”
